Media Advisory
18 June 2021, Gauteng: The Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will on Sunday - 20 June 2021, host a webinar on the rights of fathers in the protection of children.
Children have a right to both parents irrespective of whether the parents are separated or divorced and regardless of who has custody. The upbringing of children is the full responsibility of both parents unless a court determines otherwise.
Many children in South Africa grow up without the presence of their fathers and this, in instances, compromises their care and protection.
Minister Lindiwe Zulu will celebrate Father’s Day with children and fathers to hear the challenges that prevent fathers from being in the lives of their children while celebrating those who are successfully raising their children.
The Minister will be joined by the Deputy Public Protector - Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka.
