MEDIA ADVISORY

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will on Friday - July 24, present the Department’s budget to the National Assembly.  

The Department will, on the day, present its adjusted budget and plans as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to the country’s nationwide lockdown since March this year.    

After the presentation, the Minister will visit the Gauteng Food Bank (Believers Care Society) where a donation of over R24 million by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be symbolically handed over.  

This donation will be spent towards procuring 20 000 food parcels and 2 000 baby packs which will be distributed across provinces for families and babies in need of Social Relief of Distress (SRD). 

Since the national lockdown, the Department has reached 3.3 million poor and vulnerable South Africans through its food and nutrition programme.
