Following her successful week long pre-SoNA outreach programme, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu will on Thursday, February, 08, conduct a site visit at the Salesian Institute Youth Projects in Greenpoint, Cape Town. 

The State of the National Address (SoNA) will be streamed live on: https://dsdtv.org.za from 7pm this evening (08 February 2024).

Salesian Institute Youth Projects, has been funded by the Department of Social Development, though its agency, the National Development Agency (NDA), to offer innovative programmes which are designed to empower, educate, uplift the youth and women by increasing their employment opportunities. 

The NDA allocated funding to Salesian Institute Youth Projects for payment of courses to benefit unemployed women, who were trained to transit from manual hand sewing to machine sewing. 

Though the Salesian Institute Youth Projects, fifteen students, ten of whom are employed in the textile industry in Cape Town, successfully graduated and exited the programme last year with a Sewing Business start-up Kit which includes, fabric as well as a sewing machine and equipment. 

The Minister will be engaging the Salesian Institute Youth Projects leadership to deliberate on how this project is making extensive meaningful impact in society.
