As part of the partnership to restore the dignity of vulnerable groups, with a focus on older persons, persons with disabilities, and child-headed households, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, and the Chairperson of the Collen Mashawana Foundation, Mr Collen Mashawana will on Friday, 18 March 2022 officially handover a newly built and fully furnished house to Mkhulu Johannes Sello in Tsakane, Ekurhuleni Municipality.

Mkhulu Sello has been living with his wife in a dilapidated shack for a very long time. Things took a turn for the worse when he suffered a stroke and lost the ability to speak and the functioning of his right hand. The official handover of the house will bring joy to Mkhulu Sello who suffered the indignity of not having a roof over his head.

“The right to housing is a fundamental human right issue. We are pleased that our partnership with the Collen Mashawana Foundation contributes towards the realisation of the right to decent shelter, one older person at a time”, said Minister Zulu.
