16 September 2021: The Deputy Minister of the Department of Social Development – Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, will on 17 September 2021, join the Takuwani Riime Men’s Movement in partnership with the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders, and South African National Aids Council to launch the inaugural Traditional Men’s Parliaments.

 

The Traditional Men’s Parliaments will comprise 882 Traditional Council Men’s Parliaments and be hosted in 30 established District Houses of Traditional Leaders, which are constituted by the Local Houses of Traditional Leaders.

 

These parliaments form part of the National Men’s Parliament which was launched in 2018 as part of the implementation of the Department of Social Development’s Men Championing Change programme.  

 

The programme aims to impact on positive social behavioural change and socio-economic development, men’s health and the prevention of new HIV infections and Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.
