The Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will join hands with the Collen Mashawana and Nelson Mandela Foundations to hand over 2 newly-built and fully furnished houses in Ka-Hhoyi Village, Mpumalanga Province.
The Department of Social Development has a long-standing partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Collen Mashawana Foundation to provide decent shelter to older persons and child-headed households in order to realise their constitutionally guaranteed socio-economic rights, including the right to adequate housing or shelter as enshrined in Section 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
Minister Zulu will be joined by Mpumalanga MEC of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Ntshalintshali and MEC of Human Settlements, Mr Speedy Mashilo, CEO of Nelson Mandela Foundation, Mr Sello Hatang and the Founder and Chairman of Collen Mashawana Foundation, Mr Collen Mashawana. The entourage will then proceed to Siphungane Combined School where they will donate shoes, sanitary towels and PPEs to local learners.
The final leg of the visit will be at Masisukumeni Women Crisis Centre, which renders services to survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking in Tonga.
