29 April 2021: Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, will on Friday, 30 April, conclude her campaign of handing  over Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres.

 

The campaign which is done in partnership with the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) and eSimphiwe Childcare Centre  is aimed at assisting ECDs in disadvantaged communities to comply with COVID 19 regulations.

 

Gauteng is the ninth province to benefit from the initiative that will enable ECDs to open their doors to children while the country is still on Level 1 of the adjusted strategy.

 

Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu travelled across the country from 9 March 2021, ensuring that the 127 ECD centres built in partnership with the NLC would be able to meet the norms and standards issued by the department for ECD centres to reopen under the national state of disaster.

 

To date over 5000 children attending ECDs and 680 practitioners across the country have benefitted from this initiative.
