The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, will on Friday, 21 August, lead a PinkDrive campaign in Pofadder - Northern Cape Province. 

 

In partnership with Vedanta Zinc International and PinkDrive, the campaign seeks to create awareness, provide education and render health-related services to community members.

 

The PinkDrive campaign forms part of the Women’s Month programme which takes place each year during the month of August. This year, Women’s Month is commemorated under the theme: “Generation Equality: Realising Women’s Rights for an Equal Future.” 

 

Vendanta Zinc International (VZI) is a multinational company focused on social investment in the communities it operates in. VZI is committed to ensuring the development, well-being and health of communities in the areas in which it operates. 

 

PinkDrive is an NPC which delivers health-related education and cancer screening services, care and support by reaching out to schools, clinics, hospitals and communities.   

      

The basket of free services to be rendered on the day, include education on women’s health, pap smears for cervical cancer, clinical self-breast examinations, mammograms and PSA screening for men over the age of 40.

 

Community members will,tomorrow, also have an opportunity to be screened and tested for Covid-19.  

                     

The Department of Social Development is committed to strengthening families, empowering women and educating both men and women about cancer. This, in turn, should help to prevent the spread of cancer and afford South Africans a chance to lead a healthy family life.
