Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu and the Rand Water Foundation lead PinkDrive campaign in Hammanskraal

The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, will on Thursday, 06 August, lead a PinkDrive campaign in Suurman, Hammanskraal. In partnership with The Rand Water Foundation and PinkDrive, the campaign seeks to create awareness and to provide education and health-related services to community members.

The PinkDrive campaign forms part of the Women’s Month programme which takes place each year during the month of August. This year, Women’s Month is commemorated under the theme: “Generation Equality: Realising Women’s Rights for an Equal Future.”

The Rand Water Foundation is a section 10 Non-Profit Company (NPC) owned by Rand Water. It is mandated to coordinate, administer and manage the institution’s CSI resources by undertaking community development projects in partnership with various donors and stakeholders.

PinkDrive is also a NPC which delivers health-related education and cancer screening services, care and support by reaching out to schools, clinics, hospitals and communities.

The basket of services to be rendered on the day include free education on women’s health, free pap smears for cervical cancer and free clinical self-breast examinations, mammograms and PSA screening for men over the age of 40. Community members will on the day also have an opportunity to be tested for Covid-19.

The Department of Social Development is committed to strengthening families, empowering women and educating both men and women about cancer. This, in return, should help to prevent the spread of cancer and afford South Africans a chance to lead a healthy family life.
