The festive season presents an opportunity for South Africans to spend quality time with their loved ones. But this is not the case for the poor and unemployed; especially, orphaned and vulnerable children whose families cannot afford and are often forgotten during this time of the year.

As such, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will on Thursday, December 28, distribute school uniforms to children around Mbizana. This is the Minister’s follow up visit after families in and around the area informed her that most families could not afford school uniforms for their children. The allocation of school uniforms is part of the Department’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) programme which assists leaners from families who cannot afford to buy school uniforms for their children.

More than 2000 pupils from 67 schools in the area will benefit from this initiative.

Members of the media are invited to attend the event as follows:

Date: Thursday, December 28, 2017
