THE DSD YOUTH CAMP IS FIVE YEARS OLD!

It is all systems go for the Department of Social Development’s annual youth camp. The youth camp which was started by Minister Bathabile Dlamini in 2012 to promote social cohesion, encourages young people to be change agents and be leaders in their own communities. The National Youth Camp which is held under the theme, “Unity in action, Youth Action Propelling South Africa Forward” will be attended by 1 000 young persons from across the country’s nine provinces.

Since its inception in 2012, 4500 young people have attended the camp and this year the Department will bring some of the past attendees who have changed their lives for the better.

The launch of the camp will also see the closing of Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM) and more than 70 young people with disabilities will be in attendance and Deputy Minister, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu will open the camp in Kimberley.

The National Youth Camp will take place from 03 until 11 December 2017.
