LEARNERS FROM RAMMULOTSI TOWNSHIP TO RECEIVE SCHOOL UNIFORM

Deputy Minister of Social Development, Mrs Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu will hand out social relief of distress to poor families in Rammulotsi Township.

One Hundred and Thirty Nine (139) learners will get school uniform and Forty Seven families (47) were identified to be in need of social relief of distress.

The Department of Social Development and its entities decided to train and capacitate cooperatives run by women with the intention of buying social relief of distress from them.

The department has to date reached Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty women run cooperatives with a minimum of five members per cooperative. Over R200 million has already been spent towards the empowerment of women run cooperatives buying school uniform and food parcels from them.

The event forms part of National Women’s month commemoration activities that are currently underway throughout the month of August under the theme, “Women United in Moving South Africa Forward.”
