Minister Dlamini to visit Bekkersdal for Monitoring and Evaluation

Hunger continues to be one of the greatest challenges in the new South Africa, a challenge that links directly with issues of wealth distribution in the country. As part of the broader strategy to address service delivery and inequality among all people in South Africa, the Minister for Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini will on Thursday 25 October 2012 visit Bekkersdal in Gauteng to evaluate service delivery programmes and find ways to speed up delivery where needed.

The Minister will be addressing members of community through public participation/ community dialogue .The visit is also aimed at contributing to poverty reduction and mitigating the impact of vulnerability through social assistance.

 Minister Dlamini’s visit to this area forms part of Social Development Month and aims to engage communities to identify their challenges and put together action plans to deal with these challenges .The campaign, held in conjunction with the National Development Agency (NDA) and SASSA, also aims to inform communities of the various social security programmes available to them and how these can be accessed.
