In its quest to change people lives, Department of Social Development discovered another destitute community living in abject poverty and squalid conditions. DE DEUR is a farming area situated in the vaal, south of Johannesburg under the Midvaal Municipality. The farming area is so vast that it comprises different plots and compounds that are far apart from each other, with a population of approximately 1 500 people. The conditions under which these people live expose them to infectious and other social opportunistic diseases. In a quest to address the plight of these people, the Minister of Social Development, Edna Molewa, together with the National Association of People Living With HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) will visit De Deur community with the aim of lending a helping hand. Among other activities, the Minister and members of NAPWA will visit various sites that provide care for people living with HIV and AIDS. This will provide them an opportunity to interact with people living with the disease as well as those who provide care for them. The delegation will look at the possibility of initiating community development projects in the area as well as embarking on HIV and AIDS awareness campaigns. Media Is Invited to cover the event.
