Wednesday, 18 July 2012

Media Advisory

As part of Mandela International Day celebrations, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will dedicate her time to the Tendele Community Based Care centre for the disabled in Mpumalanga province. Minister Dlamini will honour the 94th birthday of Madiba by volunteering her time painting walls, fixing leaking toilets and assist with patching of the floors at the centre.

The Nelson Mandela International Day, as endorsed by the United Nations, calls upon all citizens of the world to volunteer 67 minutes of their time to help others.
To celebrate this day, the Minister will be accompanied by employees from Social Development and its agencies, the National Development Agency (NDA) and the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to refurbish the centre.
Ms Dlamini will be doing this to appreciate Mandela’s sacrifices and selfless contribution to the development and liberation of humankind. She will also outline the department’s effort in creating an enabling environment for people with disabilities.
Members of the media are invited to attend the event.
