Media Advisory Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Maria Ntuli, will on 3-4 June engage with different Non-profit Organizations with the aim of addressing the current funding crisis within the NPO sector. Lack of funding and communication within Department of Social Development have been identified as the major challenges between the sector and the Department . Funding crisis has left many organizations collapsing while others are on the brink of collapse. To date,Department of Social Development hosted two provincial dialogues in Limpopo and Western Cape respectively .The provincial dialogues will play a crucial role of social cohesion which will result into the delivery of quality services. South African civil society organizations are characterized by diversities stemming from amongst others , the circumstances and purposes of their establishment , scope of their operations as well as their structural formations. These factors stand them in good condition to identify and respond to community needs by providing programmes ; services and support in order to improve people lives , particularly where markets have failed and where government have not reach-out. Deputy Minister will interact with members of non profit organizations in the form of dialogue that will culminate into an all inclusive national consultative summit drawing together all relevant stakeholders and other critical role-players later this year. The Deputy Minister will be accompanied by MEC for Social Development in Free State, Me Sisi Ntombela.
