Saturday, 02 June 2012

Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will launch the Youth Month programme for the department and unveil our activities for the month. This will be done under the theme: “Youth Working Together in Diversity”.

The Department’s activities for this month will seek to develop a movement of young activists who are sensitive to South Africa’s history and supportive of the national democratic agenda.

We will also seek to encourage civic engagement of youth especially on how they can act as agents of social change in their localities, nationally and internationally.

Minister Dlamini will, as part of the launch, give a memorial lecture on “the role of youth in changing history and its relevance today”.

This will be followed by a panel of discussion by the youth from different generations between the 60s and the 90s, who will highlight the role that they played as young people during their times.

The event will take place as follows:

 Date               :   Monday, 04 June 2012

 Time               :   10h00

 Venue            :   Freedom Park (Pretoria)

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event.
