REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS

1.     In terms of the provisions of regulation 6 (1) (b) of the regulations relating to the election of members of the South African Council for Social Service Professions (the Council) made under the Social Service Professions Act, 1978 (Act No. 110 of 1978) (the Act), nominations are hereby requested for candidates to be appointed by the Minister to serve on the Council.

2.     Nominations are invited for the appointment of:-

one person nominated by trade unions representing employees engaged in developmental social welfare services; and

one person with a disability nominated by the community.

3.    South African citizens resident in the Republic and not prohibited from continuing in office as contemplated in section 5(3) of the Act are eligible for nomination.

Each candidate must be nominated separately.

Each nomination must be lodged with the Department by post, fax or by hand by 16 April 2010.

4.   A nomination which does not comply with the above requirements or which has not been lodged with the Department at the address stated below by the said date is invalid.
